How to stay in control of your account and income
Why ownership matters
As a creator, your account is your business. It is where your community lives, where your content sits and where your income comes from. When you work with a management agency, it is essential that you always keep full control.
1. Keep your own email and phone number
Always register your platform account with your own email address and phone number. Never hand them over to an agency. If your password is ever reset, the reset link should land in your inbox — not your manager's.
2. Keep the bank account in your name
Platform payouts should always go to your own personal or business bank account. A trustworthy agency sends you an invoice for its services — it never collects your income directly from the platform.
3. Turn on two-factor authentication
Enable 2FA on every account and use an authenticator app on your own phone. Never share your backup codes.
4. Review your access settings regularly
At least once a month, check who — and which apps — can access your accounts. Remove old sessions and any devices you don't recognise.
5. Read your management contract
A good contract states clearly that you remain the owner of your account, content and financial details. If it doesn't say so, ask before you sign.
