What makes a good management agreement?

A contract that protects you

A management agreement sets out how you and your agency will work together. It should be clear, fair, and built to protect you as a creator.

Ownership of your account and content

The contract must state explicitly that you remain the owner of your account, email, phone number and bank account. At most, the agency gets a limited, revocable licence to do its work.

Fee structure and baseline

The fee must be clearly defined — a percentage of what, exactly? Measured against which baseline? Are refunds and chargebacks taken into account? Is there a minimum fee?

Duration and termination

Start with a 90-day pilot. After that, no more than six months at a time, with a reasonable notice period and no penalties that make leaving impossible.

Privacy and data

The contract should name the GDPR roles, set retention periods, and make clear who can access which data.

Boundaries and communication

Add an appendix listing what content and communication is allowed and what isn't — and give yourself the right to pause at any time.
